I've got a chance to pick one of these up locally, but don't know much about them. It has the U.S. and flaming bomb on the right side of the receiver, and as far as I can tell, it still has the original finish. However, it does not have the bayo lug/heat shield, and the barrel is 20" with vent rib. I don't remember these having a vent rib? The seller assures that the barrel serial # matches the receiver's serial #. Also, I'm not sure if the wood furniture is original, as it has a recoil pad on the butt, and the handguard looks different. What say ye? How much would something like this be worth?

Thanks,
-WRM

no US shotgun, be it trainer or combat, has a vent rib.
if the serial number matches teh barrel, it's a fake.
the barrel should be proofed, and ordnance marked, which it won't be.
the stock would have cartouches on it and no rubber butt ''plate''.

value? cut up sporting gun, faked to look like a US martial arm, 100-150 bucks

if you leak the serial, i maybe able to tell if the receiver is original.

the serial puts the receiver right on the tail end of ww2 production. it's also on the fence about the finish.
right around 1,030,000 they switched from bluing to parking them.
the forend wood is incorrect, i can't tell about the stock, but i would figure on it not being correct.
in military from, the barrels are not serial numbered.

600 is out of line. i'd say 200-250 with what seems to be an original ww2 receiver with other parts. i do not know how long the model 12 was made after teh end of ww2, but the military pretty much dropped them after it. my guess is it is just the receiver "shell" that is correct.

fyi only the trench version of the shotguns had teh heat shield and bayo mount. the more commonly found version with a 20" barrel, no shield or bayo mount and normally lacking swivels is the riot version.
