Found one of these. Can anyone tell me if it's for real? Can you point me to a link where I can compare it's serial number to Winchester trench guns used by the military?

Thanks
Snuffy

I' ve never seen one, but just about everything else I've seen that the military owned had "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" stamped on it somewhere.

The flaming bomb should be an Ordanance marking. The initial stamps are inspectors cartouches- there are books showing who the actual inspectors were in any specific installation. Verifiy authenticity if the price is inflated.

The serial number may have a US prefix/suffix rather than the United States Property stamp.

Faking some of this stuff is depressingly common.

It would have U.S. with an Ordanance bomb on the right side receiver,
The barrel will have an ordinance bomb where it enters the receiver,
and it will be a cylinder bore. The stock will have a Crossed cannon. If I recall the riot gun will not be inletted for a rear swivel, but the trench gun stock will.

Yeah, I kinda remembered that several hours after I posted. On the other hand, gaze at the prominent "US" on the pictures you so kindly posted.

My '97 trench gun has the US & bomb on the receiver right side and the bomb on the barrel. The stock markings are too worn to read, and the rear sling mount is inlet.
