There's no offense either intended, nor taken. I'm simply curious why you haven't started a thread about the .401 Winchester Self Loading Rifle and/or it's cartridge? It seems to me that it would garner interest on it's own merit.

Now, about the .30 Carbine:

The prices of the brass-cased loads have increased, due to the increasing cost of components. The low cost of steel-cased ammunition may be attributed to the lack of the steel case's ability to expand, consequently "shooting dirty" in the Carbine, and the inclination of steel cases to damage the rifle's extractors.

Newer, more efficient .30 Carbine loads, (e.g. Buffalo Bore) peak at 40,000 psi. These loads are considered "full power" but not abusive loads for the Carbine. One must remember that while excessive pressures increase wear on the rifle's components, "full power loads" (those within the maximum pressure limits of the cartridge) will provide maximum performance, without damaging the rifle.

Let's face it, 2100 feet-per-second and 1077 pound-feet of energy on a 110-grain bullet, regardless of structure (FMJ, JSP and JHP) will make the 5.4 pound .30 Carbine stand up and "do a tap dance".

It works for me.
