The wood to metal fit is superb, and the wood is really nice.
Uberti did a real good job on this rifle. The action is smooth, and I really like the feel of the '73 action. The quality is pretty amazing, actually. I'm really impressed. It will make a great addition to my leverguns!
I don't doubt that, but still.....
That's STILL a good looking .. picture
You'll never get a photgraphic reproduction of anything that really does justice to the object.
My Uberti has a plum blue receiver and black sideplates. You can only really notice this in the sun, and no matter HOW I take a photo, it just doesn't wanna reproduce how it REALLY looks . The plum bluing just come out black.
It was supposed to rain this afternoon, which it is doing right now....SO this morning while the sun was out, I went out for a little shooting. I took a 5 pound sack of potatoes and a few guns, one of them being this 1873!
One box of standard pressure cowboy ammo later, I don't think it would be possible to be any happier with my new rifle! Recoil is almost nothing. the sights work great. The trigger pull is very nice. The cycling of the action is pure delight.
Putting spuds on sticks, and shooting them at ranges from 10 yards to 50, I had no trouble making mashed potatoes. The 1873 comes to my shoulder very naturally, and follow-up shots are easy to make, staying on target while working the lever.
It seems that the Italian craftsmen at Uberti really know how to make a lever action rifle. I can find nothing to fault, and only postive things to say about this rifle. I haven't been this impressed with a new gun in a long time. I HIGHLY recommend you guys try one out! If it doesn't make a levergun fan out of you, nothing will!

p.s. Now I REALLY want to get another one, only in the 30 inch barrel, tang sight, and pistol grip configuration.
I've posted it somewhere here about before about my 1873 Uberti, these things shoot like a house afire. The one I have defies logic because I can stand back ten yards and throw a .45 brush through the barrel, but I can't argue with under an inch off the bags at a hunnerd yards.
If I was to stumble across a big bag of money, I'd load my vault up with Eye Tie copies of Americas great guns. I had a pretty good visit with the makers at the SHOT Show several years ago. Suffice it to say, they came an bought the best we had then went home and copied them to the flaws. 8)
Did I mention my Schofields cut the hay?
I think you'll be tickled stoopit with every pull of the trigger. 8)
I have an 1866 Uberti in 44-40. Just like your 1873 the fit and finish is really nice. Shooting my rifle is sweet as to kick my friend said it best after he pulled the trigger "Did I shoot or was that my imagination". I also want an 1873 too. Nice rifle you have.

Martin
