Stevens Model Identification

I could use your help identifying a Stevens 16 ga single shot shotgun that belonged to my father who was born in 1911. The markings I found on the gun behind the trigger is the serial number 78654, on the top of the barrel reads 16 ga choke bore barrel and lug forged in one, and I can barely make out embossed in the butt end plastic piece the word Stevens in a swirl design with the two screws that hold it to the wood stock. The lever that swings horizontally to open the barrel broke off and he apparently took a kitchen facet single handle and forced it over the stud. I know it does not have a firing pin and I have a box of the 16 ga shells he had left. I am not sure of the age of the Model after looking on line at similar Stevens 16 ga shotguns. If those parts were available I was considering getting it fixed and passing it on to my son as a sentimental keepsake. Thanks in advance for any help someone maybe able to provide.

SAV/STEV/SPGFLD Accessories | Numrich Gun Parts

Scroll down to the bottom to the 94 Series Shotguns. My bet is it is one of those.

Kevin, I appreciate the quick response and the link. I did a quick scan of a few of the schematics and it looks like it may be in the 94 Series. I tried to attach a pic of the shotgun to this reply but was unable.

CubFan,

Yeah it's probably one of those but with the old Steven's single shots, often they are not marked with a model number; I know mine isn't. I figured out what model mine was once long ago, but I've long since forgotten. They are quality pieces though.

CubFan,

Fwiw, one of my family TREASURES is an old 30" RIVER ARMS 12-bore SB that has NO serial number = It belonged to my G-GF & $$$$$$$ wouldn't buy it.
(It probably cost 3-5 bucks when new at some east TX hardware store about 1900. = My ancestor carried it for at least 2 decades in the floor of his farm wagon.)

yours, sw

FYI, I took the butt stock off my shotgun what appears to read Stevens. I took a magnifying glass to the side of the shotgun and could barely make it out but imprinted on the side it read:
Iver Johnson's
Arm's and Cycle Works
Fitchburg, MA
Champion

So what appeared to may have been a Model 94 Stevens it really is a Iver Johnson's Champion 16 ga single barrel shotgun. The bad news is the only way to get parts is to find someone who has the same gun you could use for parts since mine needs a top lever, firing pin, firing pin spring, and firing pin stop screw after seeing a schematic someone place on line.
