Pictorial M14 Magazine Identification Guide

M14 fans, check this out! The Pictorial M14 Magazine Identification Guide is now available for free download in the articles section at http://www.imageseek.com/m1a

You have permission to copy this for your use but not for resale. It will take about seven minutes to download from the web site if you have cable modem. This is a comprehensive document but will make you a M14 magazine inspector for sure! Don't buy fake "GI" magazines any more!

I'll add this thread to the M14/M1A Master FAQ.

Thanks Different, that sounds great. I would love to see it but I'm still crawling along on dial-up and the estimated time to download was 2 hrs, 6 minutes and 50 seconds! Man, I really need to get cable.

I just tried it. The link on the web site is working for me. When you click on it, Save it to your hard drive. Then open the zip folder in your hard drive.

Well, I have cable, and although the DL speed of the file to my computer is quite a bit lower than what I could potentially recieve (and have during other DLs at other times) it is showing me that it should take about six minutes. You really should get cable. My dad once had AOL, and was also paying for a seperate phone line for the computer, and such a setup costs more than what I am paying for road runner (cable ISP).

Pictorial M14 Magazine ID Guide Rev. 0.8 will go in the snail mail to sven on Monday the 26th. Once sven has it, he'll post it at http://www.imageseek.com/m1a for free download. Revision 0.8 is 180 pages containing 351 color photographs. It is also a superb example of the collaborative effort of M14 fans around the country.

Great piece of work! How many months did it take?

Do you have any information on the seven rounders issued with some of the XM21s?

Thanks, Gene. Sorry, we haven't found any information on the seven rounders other than what is in Peter Senich's book. The research on the fake "GI" magazines began in 2003 and has continued since.

From Rev. 0.7, Rev. 0.8 has more photos in the KMT and Mysterious Origin Magazine chapters and more text in the CMI and Magazine Springs chapters. Some minor editing was also done.

Oh ok. I've heard storys from a couple of the RVN snipers about the small magazines but that is about it.

Keep up the good work Lee. It's definately appreciated.

Re: Pictorial M14 Magazine Identification Guide

No longer free unless the newer "Order On-Line" option is for a free order. I can't tell because the link takes me to a 3rd-party page that essentially says "oops, not here any more".

What's up? Please fix.

Re: Pictorial M14 Magazine Identification Guide

No way will that site let you download anything. Hit the download button and I get a quick access indication and nothing else happens. I am not a novice at working with computers and/or downloading anything.

Re: Pictorial M14 Magazine Identification Guide

ExSarge, I just tried it. I was able to download the 70 MB file in two minutes flat. You likely need to "register" by establishing a user ID and password. It works. Five hardcover copies have been sold and twenty-four electronic copies have been downloaded for Version 1.3 since I posted it on 05/02/10.
