| Poly Tech M-14/S
I have a Poly Tech M-14/S with the following on the receiver heel: POLY TECH, M-14/S, 7.62 NATO, the serial number is 000001. The barrel is blued, as is the bolt, but the receiver group is stainless steel (?). The barrel is marked KFS ATL GA, MADE IN CHINA, additionally its marked CAI STAIR VT. Any thoughts on the low serial number or the stainless steel receiver group? Thanks, Buzzard |

Different, I am curious as to where you accumulated all of the serial number info on the Polytech M14s since you have my serial number and it is not given to you by me or in this thread. I am sure a previous owner gave it to you, just wondering how you collected so much s/n info. Thanks for your work on these rifles. |

The previous owner of your rifle was likely a member of a discussion board somewhere on the Internet. I wouldn't know where though as I don't keep who shares what serial numbers. I just post the serial numbers and maker/importer markings and type them into the Appendices of my book. A working draft of the Second Edition of M14 Rifle History and Development including the serial number Appendices can be viewed online at http://www.imageseek.com/m1a | |

Ok, I have a copy of your book, guess I will have to look and see if it is in the appendix there, I dont believe I have ever looked.

| Just adding my two cents
Hey guy's, I'm new to the site and just wanted to say hey. I also wanted to add my PolyTech to Different's list. Serial # 10979 imported by IDE. Also, I was wondering when it might have been made or imported. It's already had the bolt and barrel changed out, cant find any markings on the barrel but the bolt is a TRW. There are some #'s on the left side of the receiver just under the stock at the forward end of the receiver. Any help will be welcome in this. Awsome site J |

shadowdiver, Poly Technologies M14S serial number 10979 was imported in 1993 or 1994 as best as I can determine.

I picked up a Poly Tec Inc. at the local gunshow yesterday. Paid $700 for it. On the receiver heel is electro-penciled M/ 14/S / 7.62X51 / NATO , this marking is on four separate lines. On the left side of the receiver is electro-penciled CHINA and POLY TECH, INC., also stamped in the same area is the S/N: C07688. Below the stock line and forward of the left receiver leg in stamped groups of numbers are the numbers 3 10 62 29 18. At 6 0'clock on the barrel midway between the bayonet lug and the gas cylinder is 308 CAL. The trigger housing is marked with 23699 that is electro-penciled upside down as you'd look at the housing in it's normal position. Semi-over the number and in the right side up position is POLYTECH, INC. The handguard is slotted as is the flash suppressor. The stock is U.S.G.I. with a P in a circle and a DAS ordanance cartouche.[/b] There are no other markings on the rifle anywhere I can find. Went over the rifle with a magnifying glass to ensure no mistakes. No importer marks, nothing. While not quite as pretty as a M-14 (handled a few of those), the PolyTech is well machined and finished. |
