Aimpoint Comp ML2

What sort of mounts would you recommend for an Aimpoint Comp ML2 on a SOCOM?

TIA

I have two of them (Aimpoints) in A.R.M.S. mounts because they were the best. You can have the regular ARMS and if you need height you can add the 9$ spacer, or the cantileiver spacer to move it forward. Now, I have to say to take a look at Larue as they have the same basic design with the addition of some adjustments in the clamping part. Take a look at them before you buy. Regards

What about the bbl mount system? The barrel on my M1A gets extremely hot during a string of rapid fire. I see the socom as an easy handling, rapid-fire, close quarters weapon The ML2 on my M4gery is the latest model but is sensitive to the ambient temp...I'm wondering if the bbl heat would impact the sight the same since the mount is directly connected to the part of the bbl (chamber/throat area) that is the slowest to cool?

I bought my last Larue from http://www.gandrtactical.com he always has the best price, fast shipping and $5 shipping charge. On the subject of heat, I would think that the mount would get the Aimpoint up out of it. I don't know if the spacer is good for your application (I have one on an M4 flat top and the spacer makes it the perfect height). I have gone through 30 round mags without heat becoming a problem. I believe that this system has shall we say been Battle Tested and proven to be fast and tough in a very hot place. I want to hear from you after you shoot with your Aimpoint from close out to 200-400 yds. (Aimpoints are also the easiest to zero) you are going to have a big smile on your face. Regards

Delloro,
Whenever the temperature is below 30 on a bright cloudless or overcast day the dot isn't as bright at setting 5 as it is when its 40-105 degrees. I usually just throw a new battery in during those real cold days and it helps but its not a cure.

Thanks for the help, fellas. Afer much consternation, and conversations with several sellers - I have opted for an EOTech 512...

If I don't care for it on the Springfield M1A...there's always the Colt M4...

I was not aware there was a heat absorbtion problem (or, heat sensitive) with the with the Comp ML2 sight. This might explain my experience, I put the Comp on my M1A Scout, and liked it alot, but I had the dot go out on me once (warranty repair), then I got it back it wouldn't hold zero (more warranty work). I gave up in disgust and put an early (small battery version) EO-Tech on her, and love it, the EO-Tech doesn't have very distinct adjustmnt clicks but I got her sighted in, she's held zero for over 3000+ rds so far, so I won't compain to much. I put the rebuilt Comp on my .223 M96 Recon, and have had no problem with it since (the coyotes and jackrabbits aren't to fond of it however). It never dawned on me that the heat from the Scout mount would affect it, I figured it was from the .308 recoil, I took the obnoxiously loud, and extremely bright muzzle flash enhancing, factry brake off, and installed a standard flash hider, which will be alot easier to live with in SHTF scenerio. But the Scout scope mount does get EXTREMELY HOT, so that may have been a factor. I just fgured with all the SF guys using them they would be extemely durable. - Tom Kelly
