Using Blanks with the M1

Anyone here ever use the M1 with blanks? Our Honor Guard uses the M1 with mixed results. In cold weather we have a problem with the shell ejecting but the next round not sliding all the way into the chamber. I've heard of a grease recommended for cold weather but can't find where it was mentioned. The barrels are reduced for blanks to retain the gas, and the gas adjustments are not a cure all in cold weather. I have found different results with different blanks. Ours are BLANK CALIBER .30 M1909, obtained through the local reserve center. Most of our services are for local military fuenerals. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks, George

There are cold weather greases, but it's expensive stuff. A net search will turn up lots of places that sell it. An automotive supply shop should have it too. Powdered graphite will do. So will shooting bone dry.
Blanks are corrosively primed. Clean accordingly.
