Commercial Controls

Bruce381 mentioned the Commercial Controls carbine in the "only one carbine" thread. My only source of carbine info is from Canfield's book. He has written that NPM changed their name late to Commercial Controls Corporation and it had been reported that just over 200 carbines were so marked. He wasn't aware of any known examples at the time he wrote that. Does anyone here on this board know of any Commercial Controls carbines in existance?

I don't believe they were ever built as carbines. They were spare/replacement receivers. I did see one about 7 years ago at an OGCA show. I don't remember who had it anymore....Senility setting in. I can't stand the noise anymore as I sit here listening to my arteries hardening!

I have also seen one, however, I am sure that it was assembled from a spare receiver. A number of the official records seem to indicate that 239 CC receivers were manufactured.

Yes, I was asked to certify it's authenticity about 12-15 years ago, so it was sent to me to take apart and document (it was legit). I don't believe it was a spare receiver, but was assembled after their contract was terminated with permission from Ordnance. There was nothing unusual about it, other than the name on the receiver (#0155 as in War Baby!). It was being purchased by George of Ohio (I will preserve his last name for posterity sake) for the outrageous price of $2500.00! This was the only known example at the time, for a Commercial Controls Carbine. Supposedly, 239 were assembled. I have a data sheet on it somewhere, I'll look for it and post it but there are five or six boxes I have to go through! It was a good example of a late NPM Carbine, in average condition. Since I already had my pristine S'G', I wasn't overly impressed with it other than it's rarity.
