IIRC, Charlie has a nifty work-around for attaching a flashlight to a handgun, maybe he can dig up the pic.

I remember reading that Colt had the chance to manufacture the M9. Before Beretta won the contract, they approached Colt and asked if they'd join their bid. Colt turned them down saying they had good reason to believe the military would stick the the 1911. I used to think of that as one of Colt's many defining business blunders. After watching the way the many failed initiatives for a new pistol over the years, I'm beginning to wonder if Colt's faith wasn't more justified.

That said, any opinions on the M9A3 offering by Beretta?

As I recall, a great display of a full tactical set up every person interested in home defense should have.

Only spent 18 months in the Army but retired from the Navy. Was also a SAMI for the last 5 years of that. I will bet whatever sidearm they choose it will have an ambi safety. I also bet it will still be in a 9mm. I feel the supply aspect of ammunition will play a part. The all steel frames hold up well and the internals do as well. Only one part I had to replace was broken locking blocks which was seldom. I think they should have gone with the updated Beretta but also think the ambi H&K would be a good call.

I'd love to hold one. Looks nice, probably would be good. But until they move the safety off the slide, it will remain unpopular with the troops.
