Safariland SSIII Duty Holster
Sorry, this post didn't seem to fit well in the "Concealed Carry" section, so I'll post it here . . . maybe I can get away with it because it's autoloader related . . .
Has anyone had any experience with the Safariland 070 SSIII duty holster? I've got a new one and I've been fiddling around with making adjustments on it, but I've come to a roadblock and the instruction manual that I got with it is no help.
My question is about the middle finger strap adjustment. Is the hex screw on the back of the holster supposed to be loose enough to allow the strap to slide back and forth beneath it, or is the hex screw supposed to be tightened all the way to clamp the strap down in one place?
It seems like the strap needs to slide back and forth to allow the gun to come out and to get reholstered, but it doesn't look right--something tells me that it needs to be clamped down and I'm not adjusting it properly if it has to slide back and forth.
I've got a message in to Safariland on the subject, but I'm hoping that someone with experience on the forum will be able to answer more promptly.

IIRC, all straps are supposed to be tight and holster secured to the belt , the gun is pushed down and rocked to the rear to draw. This holster was designed for maximum retention for uniform duty use, as in situations where someone is trying to grab your gun while you're subduing a family member/ friend of theirs. I can advise you personally, the holster does exactly what it is intended to do.
