Iver Johnson Mod 55A Target .22 revolver cylinder

I am looking for a cylinder for this revolver. I have been checking Numrich and many other sites and a couple of gun parts stores.

Or, I would be willing to sell to someone as a parts gun. Rest of gun is in good shape, just missing the 8 shot cylinder.

Have you ever wondered what happened to the Cylinder?

Who certainly cannot.

The gun belonged to my dad. He passed a few years ago at the age of 91. It might have been at the house but my stepmother and I are not on speaking terms. Even if I did ask her about it she would probably want to charge me for it.

I guess maybe if it is there I might find it after she dies but I suspect she has probably disposed of it in one way or another.

Have you tried Gun Parts Corporation? I think they are still around.... they have some unreal parts bins and a catalog that is pretty extensive.

A couple sources for parts

Sir,

I know this is an old thread, I'm new to the forum so forgive me. If you still have the pistol and are looking for the cylinder, here's a couple links for you to check out.
Poppert's Gun Parts

Miga Gun Parts

I have a nice old H&R 904 revolver, looks a lot like yours. I found a set of target grips and a couple other parts I picked up for spares through miga gun parts. Check back with them from time to time as their inventory changes. If you don't see what your looking for, shoot them an email miga569@yahoo.com or give them a call at 912-884-5616 that's how I found my grips.

I picked my revolver up from a friend of mine, I ran into him one day and he told me his Dad passed away and his Mom had turned the gun over to the Sheriff's Dept. If someone in the family didn't put it on a permit or if they didn't sell it within another month it was going to be destroyed. I paid $125 for the gun, it was as new in the box with the original papers and hang tag.

His Dad had bought it new back in the 70's, fired nine rounds through it, cleaned it, put it away and never fired it again. The oil had dried to a thick varnished gum, I had a hard time opening the cylinder and cocking the hammer. I didn't want to tear it down so I removed the grips, soaked it with CLP then blew the crud out with an blow gun. I repeated this process over a week until all the old gunk washed away.

I fired nine rounds through it, it's set in my safe since and I'll keep her that way.

Thanks for the links. I'll check them periodically. I have also been checking Numrich (Gun Parts Corp.) regularly.

Very nice H&R. Thanks for sharing.
