Could this be the Next Big Thing?

The Tround rides again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I vaguely recall another version of this some years back. IIRC HK was trying to do case-less ammo. Since I note a distinct lack of an extractor groove in the linked photo, I expect it'll have a less than stellar reception.

I'm holding out for...

Lieutenant, what do those Pulse Rifles fire?

10 millimeter explosive-tip caseless. Standard light armor-piercing round, why?

I'm sure most folks here will get that.

One of those movies when I happen to click on it I end up watching it...

I'm holding out for the Darth Vader option, myself...

Didn't we used to have Youtube-embed capability?

I'd sure like to see a fired case...

"Telescoping" is not new. Back in the 90s Reed Knight (Knight Armament) had a suppressed .44 Magnum revolver that fired a cartridge that expanded forward on firing to seal the B/C gap. I shot it several times without muffs and had no ear-ringing. It also juiced an orange instantaneously.

To my knowledge it was never produced commercially and the ammo was stupid expensive.

Telescoping Small Arms ammo has been experimental for a long time. Mostly it just shortens the round, unless combined with plastic cases.
One of American Heroes Channel shows showed it, but they were pushing full auto.

Who notes that plastic cases will suffer environmental effects more than brass.

The LSAT program uses both cased and caseless telescoped ammunition. The cased version uses a polymer case. I think the biggest issue is heat. With no metal case, the gun has to absorb all the heat. With brass cases, the case ejects some of the heat out of the chamber. For full auto this is kind of a big deal.

Never would have thought of that, but it makes sense.

They are doing one part PER WEEK now not one per month.
