I have major problems with the designations for the left. They are neither liberal in the true sense of the word nor are they progressive as they are pushing the same failed policies they espoused the last 50 years.

The Progressives of the early 20th Century used call themselves Progressives until people got wise.
Then they hid among the classic 30's to 50's Liberals until they stunk up the Liberal name so bad it was a curse word, now they're proud Progressives again.
Tomorrow they'll find a new name to hide behind.
They call themselves Progressive because they are devoted to progressing toward a Utopia on earth.
The theme song for this movement should be John Lennon's "Imagine" because it very clearly states the goals.
Religious people believe in a Utopia after death.
If you're a good person, when you die you go to Heaven and live in Utopia.
The Progressive, Leftist, Socialist, Communist, by whatever name believes in a Utopia of the future here on earth in which there is no war, no racism, no poverty, no wealthy, and everything is perfect.
People ask how it is that traitors like the Rosenberg's and other Americans who spied for a bloody monster like Russia could betray America.
The answer is, they believed in and were working toward that future Utopia of perfection.
Since America was not perfect, it was of no value whatever, so they owed it no allegiance.
Spying or betraying America was seen as perfectly acceptable in order to get to that future Utopia of perfection, if necessary over the body of the less then perfect America.
This has not changed.
Today's BLM and other Leftists agitators have no problem at all with destroying America or seeing Americans killed at home or abroad as long as it moves them farther toward their goal of a perfect Utopian society.
Of course, in even a perfect Utopia SOMEONE has to run things and make decisions about how it's to run, and of course no one is better qualified then they are.
A classic look into this view is Al Gore who preaches about American's needing to turn off the lights and stay hot in summer and cold in the winter to save the environment, while he spends more a month on the electric bill for his mansion then some small cities do.
We need to pay more in taxes to save the environment, meanwhile he speeds up the sale of his failed cable network to a repressive Mid-east country to beat having to pay more in taxes.
Another is Leonardo DeCaprio flying in his private Gulfstream all over the world dumping tons of pollution into the atmosphere to attend global warming conferences where the attendees point fingers at us for damaging the environment and denying global warming.
The key is, all that doing without stuff is "for the little people, not me" attitude of our Elite betters.
Pick almost any celebrity or Politian. Listen to what they say, then look at how they live.
The media and the provocateurs of BLM and all the other hard Left "cause" groups all think the same thing.
They'll change America and they'll be the ones on top living like kings.
