When the Japanese say stop they mean STOP! I have to give the smugglers credit for lacking any common sense for firing with small arms against apparently three ships with deck mounted weapons. I do wish the video had been subtitled though.
The fifty indeed plays some beautiful music, but I think the Japanese were using the turret mounted gun you can see briefly in some of the video angles. It appears to be the always-popular Bofors:
