Flip-up Iron Sights?

Hey all,

Just got my first AR-15. It is a custom built M-4 model on Strike's Tactical receiver on an upper that I can't quite remember the name, with a free-float quad-mount. It shoots well without malfunction; however, it didn't come with sights. It has a flat top gas block, and receiver itself is a flat-top as well.

My intention for the future is an Aimpoint. So my question is: What are the best options for flip-up iron sights? I like the idea of a Midwest Industries SA 556 front sight, but for a matching pair they will run me more than I'm "willing" to go. As of right now I'm discounting a price range (yeah, I know, countering to what I just said). I'm more interested in getting good quality sights that are full adjustable. In short, give me options so I can decide.

Thanks in advance.

If you just want some irons to shoot until you get your Aimpoint, there are very inexpensive and very functional Chinese copy sights available, fully adjustable. Not as durable as the first-line stuff but if you don't intend to take your joint to the Sandbox or abuse it, they're just fine. I've been using a set on my DPMS for five or six years now with no problem. Shop around and you can be shooting for somewhere in the $50 neighborhood--a quarter of what "good" sights could run you.

If you're looking for something just to get you by, try Magpul. The MBUS is plastic, yet works surprisingly well. For $100 or so, you'll get a pretty good set of "irons."
