Here is the replica of my 604 I carried as in the Air Force Security Police.

Upper is from Colt. Barrel is marked C MP C and is the standard 1/12 twist. The inside of the upper shoes no sign of a bolt carrier or charging handle. The front swivel still had the white preservative on it when purchased.

The lower is NoDak Spud’s NDS16A1.

The stock set came from Gun Broker for $25, yes all four pieces.

Innards are new and bought at a gun show.

Still have yet to fire for function and accuracy.

Nicely done, and quite familiar looking. I instructed on those in the '70s, and a couple years ago, I built up one not too different from your own. Mine includes a very early, chrome-plated, no-FA-notches, bolt group.

If you ever have occasion to put a .22 conversion unit in it, you might find that .22LRs don't shoot badly from the old 1:12 barrels. That's the way I've been using mine for a while now.

Snake-- Nice AR's for sure. I thought of using the green nylon sling as it would be a little more correct for a 1965ish production gun, but we used the black slings, so that is what I went with. My rifle has a notched chrome bolt carrier which I hope to change out for a smooth chrome or parked one at a later time. None of the M16's I maintained in the armory had chrome bolt carriers now that I think about it, but they all had un-notched parked BC's.

I carried a M604 in 20+ countries on 4 continents, in all kinds of weather and I can not recall it malfunctioning at the time of need.

Cheers!
