I had a a bunch of wonderful people domate lots of nice reloading equipment so i could get into this great hobby. A close friend said use the Accurate Arms #2 powder, so that's what I got. The load data that came in the Lee die set said start at 4.0 grains for the 115 TMP bullets I am using, and never exceed 4.4 grains. OK, another book I had said the same thing. I do 50 rounds each in 4.0, 4.2, 4.3, and 4.4. No, I havewn't had time to shoot them....I feel very bad. Then I get an Accurate manul, saiys START at 4.4 and go up! Huh? Then, yesterday, I get the 2004 Accurate manual, and IT says, start at 4.7! WTF! I see why this is regarded as an art, not a science..... :?
Shoot what you've loaded and see how it performs. Does the load reliably cycle the action or did you get a lot of failures to eject? Is it accurate? Keep working up until you find a load that is accurate and reliable. If you reach max before accurate and reliable try a different powder or a different weight of bullet.
I've not loaded any AA#2. It's a fast burning powder intended for light target loads and I prefer practicing with full power loads. I have used a fair amount of AA#5 over the years.
I have used Bullseye with 5 grs and 4.6 gr with the 115 gr fmjs. Works great. I am thinking about using Winchester 213 (or something like that) for my next loads.
I'm using 4.3gr of 231 with a 115gr FMJ and averaging 1050fps in my Glock17
