How is this news? I can recall reading an article decades ago where they stated an exposed lead tip would melt away when you get over 3,600fps. They had to know those plastic tips were melting in the air before the dopplar radar. That's why match hollow point boat tail bullets always out BC'd any of the "ballistic tip" bullets in long range shooting.
