Reloading .303 British
OK I've FINALLY gotten set up to reload for my .303 British and am looking for some follow on info. My old Sierra manual shows a accuracy load for the 174 MK of 40.7 of IMR 4064. Have some rounds loaded this way but here is my real question. I use so much Varget, by the 8 lb jug, that I'd like to load with that. NEW Sierra manual shows a max load of 38 something for the 174. Anybody have first hand experiance loading this round with Varget?? What have you found to be an accurate load...again using the 174MK.
Thanks in advance!

No but the only reason is that I have not had the need to load any in the last several years. Dam I was given a Varget load and now I can not fined it. I have several 8 pound jugs of Varget on hand. It was for 125 grain bullets. I have loaded 1000s of 303s with IMR 3031. When you set your sizing die be careful not to push the shoulder back. After you fire a round in a 303 chamber the shoulder usually will be forward of where it is on a factory round. The chambers are usually long. The Savage made ones seem to be the worst. The 125 grain bullets for a 7.62x39 round are the same size as 303 bullets and are much cheaper. I have even loaded 32 ACP bullets in 303s and they shot well for what I wanted them to do. With the pistol bullets you have to have them out as far as you can to get them to stay in the mag. If you come up with a Varget load please post it. I will keep looking for the one I was given.
